Marie Liu

The Delaware River Valley, itís creeks, woods scenes and waterfalls provide painter Marie Liu with endless inspiration. Since moving to the Poconos almost a decade ago, she has dedicated herself entirely to exploring itís landscape and history.

Vast tracts of public land, protected by State and Federal agencies, enable access to areas that are unique treasures and makes the region a perfect place for a landscape painter. Her paintings serve as a tribute to those that work to protect these areas for the public benefit.

DWG History

As Resident Artist for the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area from 2015-16, she focused her creative energy on interpreting the scenery and history of the Park area for exhibits in the visitors centers. She also researched the history of art production of the Minisink area and artists that lived within it, such as Marie Zimmermann and Frank Schoonover. She delivers this Power Point presentation throughout the area, including the Dutot Museum in 2017 and the Dingmans, Pike and Montague Historical Societies in 2018.

Pinchot - Guardian of the Sawkill

A local history buff, one of her favorite subjects is Gifford Pinchot. Having painted several images of him, she enjoys informing people of his great achievements as Americas First Conservationist, 1st Chief of the US Forest Service, (working with Pres. Teddy Roosevelt to increase and enhance US Forest and Park lands) and two time Governor of Pennsylvania.

Kate Horan

No statement can pin down the process of an artist when creating a work that she or he hopes will later be labeled art. My passion is making figurative art: creating, through invention and observation, images that reflect the caring, contentious, vulnerable, elusive, complicated beings called human.

Two Parrots & a Pink Umbrella

AIn my work, painting and drawing merge. Sensitive thick/thin line, splotches of color instinctively but strategically placed. No goal of realism in my bones; more the interrupted image. There is often a narrative at play: the whole of a work that calls for a story, or many, even if itís only in the grasp of a hand or the degree of a smile.
