For the exhibit at the Dutot, entitled “Trees”, he will be juxtaposing two radically different takes on the subject. He will be showing a recent body of geometric abstraction that uses the silhouette of a tree and abstract structures of vertical and horizontal lines. These are collaged from paper and fabric and then painted into. Alongside these he will hang plein air and realist paintings and drawings using trees as a subject.

Will studied at The Art Student’s League of NYC with Robert Beverly Hale and Frank Mason and is a graduate of Cornell University, where he began making abstract art. This culminated in a show of his early paint chip geometric abstraction at the Greenville Museum of Art in 1979. He has continued to make collage and abstract paintings ever since. A few years ago he began revisiting realism and plein air painting.
