Opening Reception: Friday, May 27, 7:00 to 9:00PM
In 1990 my husband David Ross designed a summer place for us. Our property was deep in the woods. We caught the light by a mass of windows facing south. The building is up one level which also helps catch the sunlight. A mountain stream full of rocks laden with moss can be seen below.
Thirty summers passed before I was challenged to paint the interior. Finally last summer, in 2021, I approached the problem of how to paint the Interior of my summer home, or "The Camp", as David and I called it. I felt I had something to say, but I was afraid that I had no idea of how to go about it. Somehow, as I began to draw, the ideas began to escape. Using pastels as the medium allowed my drawing to form images. Pictures began to appear of our life in this very loved place.
Penny received her BFA and BS in Ed from the University of Cincinnati and her MA from New York University. She is in the Berman Museum at Ursinus College, the William Penn Museum in Harrisburg, the Everhart Museum in Scranton as well as many other public and private collections.
